Course Description:
Studio Art is an introductory art course. Students will explore a variety of media, artists, and cultures in analyzing, synthesizing, and creating works of art. Students will gather information, which will lead them to a greater understanding of art making processes, art mediums, and global cultures. This course is a one-year course that fulfills the one credit fine arts graduation requirement. Students may take this course in grades 9-12. It is also a pre-requisite for all upper-level elective art courses.
Objectives:
Create original works of art utilizing the Elments of Art and Principles of Design
Explore and discover how different cultures create and interpret works of art in different ways.
Understand the role of art and artists in creation of work and in society.
Identify, comprehend, apply, and evaluate artwork based on the language of art
Present and reflect on work in critiques using appropriate technology
